Niels Ryberg Finsen (1860 - 1904) was a Nobel Prize winning physician and scientist. "in recognition of his contribution to the treatment of diseases, especially lupus vulgaris, with concentrated light radiation, whereby he has opened a new avenue for medical science."He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology in 1903. Finsen is best known for his theory of phototherapy, in which certain wavelengths of light can have beneficial medical effects. Measures 5.25 x 8 inches. Rare autograph.
