1 pp. 3¾x5".Top line of note, with recipient’s name, removed, but care of Westmoreland Club, Richmond, Virginia: “I sent you a Catalogue of our Seminary”. In 1881, Boston teacher and Baptist missionary Sophia Packard (1824-1891) co-founded (with her domestic partner) Atlanta’s Spelman Seminary, named for a Rockefeller benefactress, which grew into the first college for Black women in America. A rare autograph.
