Henry Halleck (1815-1872). Major general who served as general-in-chief and chief of staff of the U.S. Army during the Civil War. 11.75 x 9.25 in. oval watercolor portrait of Halleck in civilian attire, on a 16 x 13 in. mount signed H.W. Halleck. There has been some light waterstaing to lower area of mount also where signature is present, but still in good condition. Framed to 14 1/2" x 17.5"
