Important Delaware politician (1733–1798) who served as a Continental Congressman, as a delegate to the 1787 Constitutional Convention, and was one of two statesman to sign the three defining documents of the United States—the First Continental Congress’s petition to King George of 1774, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution.
