Original 10" 14" drawing done with charcoal, by this French artist, not signed but with his estate stamp LL. Lacroix was a student of Jean-Baptiste Corot, and began exhibiting at the French Salon in 1834 with Vue prise à Aulnay and participated until 1878 with various landscapes of Auvergne, Pyrénées-Orientales, of the Lyonnais, Dauphiné (Crémieu), and of Provence where he traveled with Corot in 1836 to Montpellier. At the Salon, he received a third-place medal in 1842 and second place medals in 1843 and 1848. However, the surroundings of Paris were the primary sources of his inspiration: the banks of the Marne, the forest of Fontainebleau and Palaiseau and the park of the Gigoux villa. His landscapes were painted in clear tonalities that he often brought to life
