This is an important letter where Einstein is giving permission for Dr. Dagobert D.Ruines to use the Forward he wrote for Dr. Rune’s Spinoza Dictionary. The TLS is in perfect condition on his white stationary with his Einstein Princteon blindstamp on the top. The letter is dated July 28, 1951 and is written in German to Dr. Dagobert D.Ruines at the Philosophical Library in NY. The letter is the official release by Einstein for Ruines to use the forward. Einstein was known to admire Baruch Spinoza as one of the greatest philosophers that ever lived. So much so that Einstein even once wrote a love poem to Spinoza, because he believed so strongly in Spinoza’s philosophy of science and God. One of Einstein’s favorite quotes in reference to God and religion is ”I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals Himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a God who concerns Himself with the fate and the doings of mankind.” Over the years , Einstein was asked to write about Spinoza, bust would always refrain, he once said that he was too great of a man to put into words. Later in life once gain he was asked by a friend and Spinoza scholar Dr. Ruins. This time Einstein agreed and wrote the forward in his popular Spinoza dictionary in 1951. The letter is short and in German, but basically states that he gives permission for Dr. Ruines to use his forward which he wrote for the Book by Dr. Ruins. Any letter form Einstein where he talks about his beliefs of religion and Spinoza has sold upwards into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, one such letter sold for 3 million. It is very rare to find any Writings form Einstein referring to his favorite philosopher on religion, Baruch Spinoza. The letter is accompanied with a first edition with dust jacket of the Spinoza Dictionary with Einstein’s forward in it. Baruch Spinoza(1632-1677) Was One of the most important philosophers of the rationalist tradition, Spinoza was expelled from the Jewish synagogue in Amsterdam for his unorthodox views. Spinoza was a monist who held that fundamentally only one substance exists, known through its two attributes of mind and extension and correctly designated as God or Nature. When we understand the nature of God, we understand that all that happens does so with necessity.
