Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “Chester A. Arthur” as president and “W. E. Chandler” as secretary of war, one page, 15.5 x 19.5, April 11, 1884. President Arthur appoints Meredith D. Jones Surgeon with the relative rank of Lieutenant. Signed at the conclusion by both Arthur and Chandler. The embossed dark blue War Office seal remains affixed bottom middle arae. Framed and in fine condition, although toned.
