Forster, John (1812-1876) The Life of Charles Dickens, Extra-Illustrated, with a Check Signed by Dickens. London: Chapman & Hall, 1872-1874. Six octavo volumes extended from three, with approximately 350 added plates and portraits inserted, including a check signed by Dickens dated 1866 inset opposite the first leaf of text in volume one, bound in full uniform contemporary dark blue morocco by Riviere, t.e.g., (bindings quite worn, many boards detached, endcaps and corners with some chipping), ex libris John Louis Ketterlinus, with his bookplate in each volume, 8 1/4 x 5 1/4 in.
