A RARE SIGNED TRUMAN CHRISTMAS BOOK, only two other examples of this title has appeared at auction since 1975.  

TRUMAN, Harry S. A New Era in World Affairs, Selected Speeches and Statements of Harry S. Truman, January 20 to August 29, 1949. The White House, Washington, Christmas 1949. 4o, brown morocco, Great Seal of the United States stamped in gilt on front cover, spine gilt. there are some small condition issues missing a small part of the lower spine also some slight damage in the to corner portion of the cover as well as some slight edge browning to the pages, otherwise in fine condition.

LIMITED EDITION, an unspecified number of copies. This copy no. 9, INSCRIBED AND SIGNED on the front free endpaper,to Truman's Secretary of the Interior "To Hon. Julias A. Krug with the best wishes for a Merry Christmas. Harry S. Truman." A fine copy of Truman's 1949 Christmas book, printing his 1949 Inaugural Address and five other important speeches on foreign policy. Topics include the NATO Treaty, the Marshall Plan, and German reunification. "In years to come," Truman said of the Marshall Plan, "we shall look back upon this undertaking as the dividing line between the old era of world affairs and the new--the dividing line between the old era of national suspicion, economic hostility and isolationism, and the new era of mutual cooperation..."
